Sometimes a good challenge is a push you need to move forward. You probably heard about some famous kind of challenge. Like 12 startups in 12 months. This one isn't following any trend. It's just a small challenge for myself to write and publish 30 new blog posts in May.
You might be thinking why? I am writing my technical blog for more than 10 years now. And I wrote 220 blog posts in that time. That's less than 2 a month. Not bad for writing a free blog on the internet. However, the views are not growing.
Lots of views happen when I hit publish and share my writing. I am luckly that my posts often end up in cool newsletters like Ruby Weekly or Short Ruby Newsletter. But because I write about things in the moment, SEO wasn't ever a real goal.
And so things are slow and I am still hovering aroung 6000 unique visitors in a month.
Is this bad? No. It helps me sell my books which I can slowly start calling it a business. But it's not much.
And things will become even more difficult. ChatGTP can create 100k posts for someone in a matters of minutes. Who knows how big of a drop we'll all see from Google?
Right now I still believe in human writing. In fact, as much as building a small engine inside LakyAI, my small startup focused on publishing and social media to build brands without too much time and effort.
So part of this challenge is challening my usual output. Can I write more and start moving things in the right direction? Being more intentional about SEO. And at last, to test drive LakyAI to fix the biggest issues and get it ready for others.
Let's see how this goes.
