Vlog from my hometown

I did try to improve on my first vlog by getting a new camera. Here's how it went.

My second vlog

I intent to document my way of learning making YouTube videos. If you haven't read my notes from my very first vlog that I made on an iPhone, go read it. So this was my second attempt which I called Back to my roots. Vlog from Opava and what I am working on. As for description, the original reads as In this episode I show you the city I was born in, drink two coffees, react to Dagobert Renouf tweet, and finish some visual work on Kamal DevOps course. I don't think it's that important about what these videos are, it's still about learning. So, what did I learn?

New camera

I love we can now just use our phones for shooting videos, but when making my first shoots with a gimbal I realized how problematic this is. Gimbal is bug and cumbersome. But that's just the first problem. The biggest problem is that you might still need to use your phone… as a phone. And switching is too much. So I went ahead and bought Action 5, the action camera from DJI. Since I planned to do some shoots from my car's dashboard during the biggest road trip of my life, I opted for an action camera.

Mic setup

I wanted as simple setup as possible and in a way you can film with Action 5 without mic. This second blog was filmed without any external microphone. I wonder what do you think about it? Good enough or no? I do realize that sound is the number one thing for a video production and I recently figured out a setup where I can reuse my old microphone with the new camera. So vlog number 3 will come with potentially better sound and we can compare it.

Wide angles

Lot's of people film with action cameras on a wide angle. This vlog was also produced like that. You see a bit more surrounding this way. But some people told me they dislike the wide lens. I might still experiment with both and see how it feels. I also haven't made any special thumbnail for this video, so that's certainly one thing to improve upon.
