Vlog from Pattaya

I made another vlog and YouTube showed it to 6 people. Here's my thoughts on becoming a YouTuber after 3 published vlogs.

Vlog from Pattaya

My third vlog

I am documenting my way of learning vlogging on YouTube. Last time I wrote about the production of my second vlog that I filmed in Opava, the city I was born in. This time I was filming in the sunny Pattaya which is a city in Thailand with questionable reputation. I played on this dark theme by calling this Pattaya: the Sin City of Indie Hacking and included more of dark interesting bits.

Better intro

First of all I improved the vlog format by making a short intro at the beginning which I called In this vlog. I am asking "would you jump?" which suggests that someone just jumped out of the Hilton hotel (and in reality it's even more crazy but you have to watch to find out). This time the intro is very short and perhaps could be a tiny bit longer, but I am happy it's there.

Overlays

I haven't stopped with the intro and for the first time ever also used quite a few overlays. Those are the shots of places I talk about in the background. The idea is that seing someone talked for too long is a bit boring. Plus it's also infomational to show what you mean. Good? Not really, my friend immediately told me that I should add overlays as if they are not there! Maybe it's still too little for the size of the video.

Numbers

And now the numbers. YouTube initially showed this video to just 6 people! Even with over 60 subs YouTube decided on super small sample size. That's quite a bit worse than a tweet, let alone after hours of production. Luckily I could sent some people over from X and in the end the views rose to 440. But the harsh reality is that even those 440 didn't really watch the video. Increasing watch time needs to be a priority to collect those watch hours.

Next

Excited what I'll film next? I am preparing a video from Bangkok where I joined two interesting meetups. So stay tuned and subscribe.
